In depth coverage of my films by James Van Maanen at Trust Movies.
"My favorite is DROOL. I've never seen anything quite like this dazzle of movement (some might call it dance, or near), drizzle, stunning visuals in monochromatic sepia. It's gorgeous and extremely unsettling, and only four minutes long. You can call thall this experimental film-making (Kipp himself does) but it is not at all difficult to watch or even to understand. It's what it is. And what it is is more than mere surface. One viewer has declared that it concerns the creative female and parasitic male, which makes sense, but then so will a number of other possibilities, I think, which is one of the beauties of art -- which this film most definitely is."

MUSIC VIDEO - "FATE"
Performed by Aaron David Gleason
Directed by Jeremiah Kipp
https://vimeo.com/38618849
"A brilliant and powerful ballad visually realized by a courageous clip that reflects the chaos, blood and fragility of relationship."
- Lonn Friend, rock journalist and former editor of RIP Magazine
I truly enjoyed directing this music video for singer-songwriter Aaron David Gleason, who was a pleasure to collaborate with.
I was immediately attracted to Aaron’s piece because of the sound: alluring and enchanting, music with a strong narrative quality. The unique piece felt like a fusion of musical styles, which inspired me to create a video about a monster that is strange, alluring and enchanting, and taps into the deep emotional nature of the song.
Rather than create another performance video with someone singing passionately into a microphone, we created instead a visual piece that allows a meaningful counterpoint to Aaron’s rich lyrics. And Aaron himself is prominently featured in the video as the central character who enters into a strange new world.
I owe tremendous gratitude to the cast, particularly Sharon-Albertine Dreze who played the monster, to our cameraman Jonathan Jacobson and to Mandragoras Art Space.

SAL BARDO - FILMMAKER
I've been selective about my assistant director gigs lately. One I truly enjoyed was the intense short film CHASER by talented NYC filmmaker Sal Bardo. An excellent cast led by co-producer Max Rhyser and a strong crew. Find out more about Sal and his body of work at his Web site here.

ZOE DAELMAN CHLANDA
One of my favorite actresses and collaborators. I worked with her on CONTACT and THE SADIST, as well as co-producing INSATIABLE and THE BLOOD SHED. She's also in the John Isaac Geneve watch commercial. She brings depth and charisma to all her work. I'm happy to see she's gone international, living and working in both Toronto and New York. http://www.zoedchlanda.com/

DROOL with Mandragoras
I wanted to take Karen Finley performance art into the realm of surrealistic horror. Laura Lona and Brian Uhrich at Mandragoras Art Space were inspired collaborators who were equally willing to take this plunge into the absurd and the otherworldly.

"There's nothing worse than when somebody says, 'Oh, you made that movie? I hated that movie,' and you say, 'I agree with you.' You want to be able to get in a fistfight over your movies. But I've learned more from having made my own errors in judgment than when somebody says, 'This vice president is going to recut your film' I don't know what I learned from that other than to fight." - David Fincher on the ALIEN 3 debacle

KELLY RAE LeGAULT - "IN FEAR OF..."
"I just feel like there’s something so brash about Kelly Rae LeGault. Something daring and committed in her work that feels like punk rock. And this collaboration was about creating a series of personas or masks. She’s playing three different characters, or three shades of the same person. Kelly was working in much the same way Madonna or Lady Gaga do, stylizing a certain look to communicate a feeling." - from IN FEAR OF interview

Read an interview with Jeremiah at Fluster Magazine.
"I liked these characters, and somehow they still haunt me. I still imagine him out there searching for his lost love; perhaps someday he will find her." - from interview with Jeremiah at Fluster Magazine. Read here.
